Role Summary: This role is pivotal in providing engineering expertise for the design and execution of automated manufacturing systems. The objective is to ensure a safe production environment that supports Dometic's commitment to delivering high-quality, cost-effective products on schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively promote automation initiatives within the Operations department. Evaluate, advocate, and communicate automation prospects, and oversee selected projects through to completion.
  • Lead the integration of SCADA systems within the operational framework.
  • Offer leadership and technical guidance to the Automation Engineering team.
  • Establish standards and best practices for the Automation Engineering division.
  • Coordinate automation-related projects and activities with external vendors and contractors.
  • Review and assess the work of peers for technical accuracy and adherence to best practices, providing constructive feedback and guidance as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Operations staff to facilitate the integration of automation solutions.
  • Design, construct, and validate automated systems and processes within the Operations sector.
  • Generate documentation for automated solutions, including work instructions, schematics, parts lists, calibration procedures, and maintenance plans.
  • Educate production staff on the operation of new or modified production systems.
  • Diagnose issues with existing custom production equipment, identify solutions, rectify problems, and seek opportunities for enhancement. Collaborate with the maintenance team as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, Automation Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in integrating robotic systems in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient in developing automated production systems, including mechanical design, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, and sensor technologies.
  • Expertise in selecting and integrating electrical control systems and vision technologies.
  • Ability to read and create PLC ladder logic.
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD software (such as Creo), GD&T, and MRP systems.
  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Certification as a robot programmer is a plus.
  • Certification as a LabView Developer or equivalent is advantageous.
