Job Summary

Genentech is seeking a highly skilled Safety Science Director to join our team. As a key member of our safety science team, you will be responsible for providing expert support to molecules across our portfolio, ensuring the highest level of safety oversight and input into all aspects of study management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the safety profile of assigned products, as well as the relevant strategic context.
  • Lead signal detection and management activities, including STAR maintenance and ISMP maintenance.
  • Contribute to the review of safety assessments and drug safety reports for signals or issues.
  • Develop and maintain safety strategies, including risk management activities and risk communications.
  • Collaborate with vendors servicing safety science and contribute to the development of safety components of study reports and regulatory documents.
  • Acquire and contribute knowledge of relevant drug class and/or competitor safety issues.
  • Lead the development of scientific publications and approve submissions from a safety perspective.
Requirements
  • Qualified healthcare professional or Life Sciences graduate with 6 or more years of drug development experience in the pharmaceutical or related industry.
  • 3 years of experience in drug safety.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification (e.g. PHD/MSc in a Life sciences discipline; MD, PharmD or other post-graduate health professional qualifications) is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence, with and without authority, in a global matrix environment.
  • Proven success in creating and sustaining strong relationships with internal and external business partners.
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary range: $157,600 – $292,600.
  • Discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
