Assistant Professor Health Policy and Community Health Position

We are seeking an exceptional Assistant Professor of Health Policy and Community Health to join our dynamic team at Georgia Southern University. As a key member of our faculty, you will contribute to the academic excellence and research endeavors of our institution.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining an active research program, engaging with multidisciplinary research teams, mentoring students, and teaching graduate and undergraduate classes. A strong background in substance use prevention, harm reduction, addiction treatment, and addiction recovery is essential. The ideal candidate will also have a proven track record of securing extramural research funding and a commitment to advancing a strong and growing research and scholarship agenda.
Responsibilities- Teach and develop graduate and undergraduate courses in public health
- Serve on dissertation committees in the college
- Provide service to the community
- Mentor students
- Engage in scholarship/creative activity leading to presentations at professional meetings and publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Be actively involved in professional associations and outreach activities
- Earned PhD, DrPH, or ScD in Public Health, or a closely related field, by August 1, 2025
- Track record that exhibits strong foundational knowledge in substance use and addiction through the lens of public health
- Proficiency in Applied Research approaches associated with an emphasis on substance use prevention, harm reduction, addiction treatment, addiction recovery, or a closely related field
- Proficiency and experience in quantitative and/or mixed methods research
- Proven record of or demonstrated potential for securing extramural research funding
- Postdoctoral experience in addiction science research, including prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery, with a strong emphasis on rural populations
- Demonstrated research and publication experience in public health, and track record of securing extramural grant funding
