Project Manager Job Description

Balfour Beatty US is seeking a skilled Project Manager to lead commercial construction projects in Austin, TX. The ideal candidate will have experience working on K-12, Higher Education, and/or Municipal projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee project direction, completion, and financial outcome.
  • Direct and supervise activities related to contract administration, change orders, submittals, procurement, project financial projections, and schedule requirements.
  • Ensure projects are completed in a quality, profitable manner while adhering to our Safety/Zero Harm culture.
Essential Functions:Project Financials:
  • Create and manage project budgets and coordinate Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) development.
  • Understand and comply with owner's contract requirements, including bonds, fees, notifications, schedules, reporting, and costs.
  • Develop and complete monthly Projected Final Cost Report (PFR) and Labor Cost Report (LCR) projections on time.
Preconstruction Coordination:
  • Collaborate with Preconstruction to prepare, review, and monitor information and reports related to all costs involved in developing the project's budget.
  • Take ownership of determining the quantity of budget estimates/deliverables to clients.
  • Manage the subcontracting process, including holding initial scope review meetings, finalizing agreed price, developing subcontract scope of work, managing the subcontract, and implementing Zero Harm in Preconstruction.
Project Scheduling:
  • Collaborate with scheduling, superintendent, subcontractors, and suppliers to create a construction schedule.
  • Develop an organizational and responsibilities matrix at the start of each project and determine the resources needed for the project.
  • Review contract documents with all project participants to ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
Project Administration, Operations, and Close-out:
  • Responsible for project administration and daily operations, including preparing and maintaining the project schedule, milestone dates, and close-out checklist.
  • Establish relationships and communication tools as needed with suppliers and other key people to verify all materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and personnel are obtained and/or delivered when necessary.
  • Ensure project site and company assets are secure and maintain a safe and respectful working environment at all times.
Requirements:
  • B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-10 years' experience in commercial construction.
  • Experience working on small to midsize ground-up commercial construction projects.
  • Experience with project manager software (Procore, P6, etc.).
  • Experience with cost projection, financial analysis, budget reviews, labor reports.
  • Experience with JD Edwards or similar construction application(s).
