Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Logistics Compliance Trade Programs Specialist to join our team at Intuitive Surgical. As a key member of our logistics compliance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the import and export compliance procedures and international trade programs are executed in accordance with government regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Import/Export Compliance: Perform import/export activities in compliance with government rules and regulations, organizational policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
  • Trade Compliance: Manage issues related to proper legal interpretation and determination of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, Country of Origin, Customs Valuations, ECCN, International Trade Administration's anti-dumping regulated product flows, duty drawback, duty suspension, and other governmental programs driving exemptions of products and purchases.
  • Compliance Management: Manage compliance with preferential-and non-preferential trade programs and issue certificates as applicable.
  • Customs Reconciliation: Responsible for the Customs reconciliation and anti-boycott programs.
  • Data Governance: Audit and maintain data governance in SAP/product database and applicable trade compliance records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Compliance Documentation: Create and maintain import/export compliance manuals, policies and procedures, SOPs, and trade compliance guidelines.
  • Research and Analysis: Assist Logistics Compliance manager in researching Customs- and regulatory requirements for new destination markets including classification, import licenses, valuation, documentation, and import- and export restrictions and communicate back to medical device business.
  • IT Collaboration: Interact with IT and COE to streamline and improve import/export data for compliance; communicate requirements to IT and assist with testing and solutions implementation.
  • Trade Policy Monitoring: Monitor and alert new trade policies globally – such as Section 301.
  • C-TPAT Implementation: Maintains adherence to and assist with the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) implementation and annual validation.
  • Import Permit/License Applications: Submit and monitor import permit/license applications as needed.
  • Internal Risk Assessments: Conduct and report findings of internal risk assessments. Follow-up with Compliance Improvement Plans.
  • Training and Development: Provide training to other functional groups on import and export requirements.
  • Global/Regional Compliance Projects: Assist in global and/or regional compliance projects/programs.
  • Compliance Reporting: Develop and generate compliance and service provider performance reports for management.
  • Operational Process Improvement: Assist in development and maintenance of operational processes and procedures to improve workflows and process.
  • Intuitive Audit Guidelines: Assist in defining Intuitive audit guidelines to monitor customer/order compliance and aid in determining future training/procedural needs.
  • Communication: Communicate company policies and procedures to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Customer/Supplier Support: Provide assistance to company sites, suppliers, and customers in the continuous improvement of their compliance functions.
  • Special Projects: Perform other duties, tasks, special projects as assigned.
Requirements
  • Education: Minimum Bachelor's Degree in supply chain, international business, finance or similar.
  • Experience: Minimum 7+ years of experience in Trade Compliance/Logistics Operations Compliance in medical devices.
  • Customs Broker License: Licensed Customs Broker – U.S. or similar professional trade certifications.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Expert knowledge of customs regulations, FDA importing regulations, EAR & Census Trade requirements.
  • Trade Classification: Strong knowledge of Customs regulations, import and export classification, free trade agreement and training skills.
  • Global Trade Management Software: Experience in implementing and maintaining Global Trade Management Software.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and problem solving with experience in risk management processes and gap analysis.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication, facilitation, and collaboration.
  • Research Skills: Excellent in research and analytical skills.
  • Organizational Skills: Detail oriented and highly organized with ability to multi-task and minimal guidance.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to create innovative solutions from existing resources.
  • Regulatory Interpretation: Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and implement appropriately.
  • Teamwork: Must be a team player, amenable to a variety of work projects.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to influence others through demonstrated expertise. Ability to manage multiple cross-organizational projects.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • SAP S4/HANA: Experience in SAP S4/HANA and related transactional and outputs are preferred.
  • Travel: Travel up to 10%.
  • Language: English required.
