Job Summary :
The Wellness Specialist provides clinical leadership support in communities where a clinical leader may not be present.
This role involves providing temporary coverage for the overall implementation, delivery, and coordination of resident clinical services at the community.
Directly supervises all team members of the nursing department, responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this department.
This position also involves interviewing, hiring, and training team members, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, coaching, and managing team member performance.
Assists in onboarding and training new Wellness Directors and supports the Greater Atlantic Division.
Key Responsibilities :
Ensures compliance with state regulations governing Assisted Living by regularly reviewing regulations checklists.
Performs timely and accurate resident assessments using assessment tools and communicates changes to the Executive Director for billing purposes.
Manages expenses within given budget parameters using spend-down sheets.
Provides oversight with medication management to ensure all MARs are correct and that residents receive medications timely and accurately.
Works with consultant pharmacists as needed to ensure community compliance.
Ensures all charting is performed in a timely manner and in accordance with state regulations.
Provides timely and honest communication with families to promote good relationships and keep them informed about resident conditions and community events.
Provides marketing support within the community by participating in tours and discussions with potential residents and their families about clinical needs.
Creates positive team member relations through staff appreciation programs, recognition of excellent performance, and retention through regular feedback systems and promotional incentive programs.
Provides on-call backup to the community when not on duty and maintains confidentiality of all pertinent personal or health information concerning residents and staff.
Ensures that any incident reports are completed properly and promptly.
Requirements :
Qualified candidates must be currently licensed as a RN with a minimum of 1-year experience in senior housing and/or geriatric nursing.
Minimum 2 years' experience working as a Director of Nursing or Wellness Director with a demonstrated success in leading nursing teams to meet successful resident outcomes.
Candidate must be able to travel to various communities within the assigned market.
Prior management experience is preferred.
Candidate must be able to read, write, and speak the English language and be able to communicate effectively with residents, families, physicians, and team members.
Candidate must have the ability to be on call and occasionally work nights, weekends, and holidays.
