Senior Research Laboratory Manager

The University of Louisville is seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Lab Manager to join the Laboratory of Dr. Alex Carll in the Center for Cardiometabolic Science. This is a full-time, regular position that will assist in cardiovascular toxicology experiments involving biochemical, molecular, and physiological measures of rodents and their tissues.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise and train lab personnel on various laboratory techniques and experiments.
• Coordinate laboratory experiments, including preparation of materials and equipment, and communication and planning with other lab and/or Center personnel.
• Maintain inventory of the lab, including coordination, collection, and organization of lab samples and materials, replenishment of lab materials.
• Maintain laboratory equipment.
• Handle laboratory mice.
• Acquire physiologic data from mice (e.g., electrocardiograms or blood pressure signals).
• Conduct mouse inhalation exposures to e-cigarette aerosols, air pollutants, or environmental stressors.
• Organize, analyze, and summarize large experimental datasets in MS Excel or other data processing software.
• Perform biochemical/molecular assays (e.g., Western blot, qRTPCR, ELISA).
• Perform surgical procedures for evaluation of cardiovascular physiology in mice (e.g., ECG & blood pressure telemetry, intracardiac electrogram).
• Establish written protocols for experimental and analytic procedures.
• Research literature and help prepare journal articles for submission.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with handling rodents for experiments.
• Experience and comfort with processing datasets.
• Past experience with physiologic data, wet lab procedures (Western blot, qRTPCR, ELISA), surgery, and histology. Additional experience with statistical analyses also appreciated.
• Curiosity and attention to detail.
Compensation:
Target compensation maximum: $87,300.00
Target compensation minimum: $58,200.00
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
