Basic Function
Under the guidance of a designated supervisor, assist the educational staff in overseeing and nurturing preschool-aged children and infants; provide support related to childcare, meal service, and cleanliness.
Representative Duties
Supervise groups of children during various indoor and outdoor activities; set up and take down play equipment; ensure safe outdoor play.
Monitor restroom usage; manage changing and laundering of soiled clothing; assist with diaper changes and toilet training.
Prepare and serve healthy snacks and meals; prepare infant formulas and meals; assist in creating and updating basic menus; oversee snack and meal times.
Perform light cleaning tasks including washing dishes, clearing tables, sweeping floors, and emptying trash; maintain a safe, sanitary, and organized classroom and outdoor area.
Operate various classroom tools and appliances such as copiers, laminators, and kitchen equipment; ensure proper food storage; sanitize kitchen areas; maintain necessary records.
Adhere to center policies and procedures, particularly those related to health and safety.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school with six semester units in early childhood education or a related field, along with six months of experience in a structured environment with children. Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Child Development Assistant Permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess or be able to obtain a valid First Aid Certificate from an authorized agency.
Successful completion of pre-employment physical assessment.
Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing.
Knowledge and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Requirements for maintaining a children's center in a safe, clean, and organized manner.
Current best practices for inclusive early childhood education.
Policies and objectives of assigned programs and activities.
Interpersonal skills utilizing tact, patience, and courtesy.
Health and safety regulations.
Principles of personal hygiene.
Sanitation practices for food handling and service.
Basic First Aid techniques.
ABILITY TO:
Monitor young children's behavior and oversee activities.
Maintain a children's center in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
Apply basic nutrition principles.
Administer basic First Aid.
Understand and follow both oral and written instructions.
Prepare and serve food in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Observe health and safety regulations.
SALARY RANGE
$2, $3,923.50 monthly
Maximum Entry Level Salary:
$2,917.34 monthly
