Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Staff Dentist to join our team at Coastal Health Alliance. As a key member of our dental care team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, performing evaluations, diagnoses, and treatments, and working collaboratively with our medical department to provide comprehensive care to our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Provide and manage patient care, delivering high-quality dental services to patients of all ages.
  • Diagnose and treat patients to achieve excellent results within estimated treatment time, with maximum attention to patient comfort.
  • Deliver treatment plans to patients, along with an informed consent discussion surrounding treatment options, risks, benefits, and alternatives.
  • Make appropriate referrals and communicate with specialists.
  • Provide patient education materials and possess excellent people skills, particularly a caring attitude toward patients and staff.
  • Follow a comprehensive program of preventive dentistry and create treatment plans and prioritize treatment based on medical necessity and quadrant dentistry.
Supervision
  • Manage immediate staff, including assistants and patient care coordinators.
  • Ensure correct coding and accurate patient records according to clinic protocol.
  • Monitor patient scheduling to ensure efficiency and effectiveness through "perfect day scheduling".
  • Able to lead and supervise the work of others.
  • Share information obtained in seminars and educational resources.
  • Perform performance evaluations annually for the RDAs and PCCs they work with.
Administration
  • Maintain thorough, accurate, timely, and up-to-date patient records.
  • Responsible for documenting visit details to facilitate billing and to demonstrate medical necessity and quality of care.
Compliance
  • Follow established protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Follow Standards of Care, Quality Assurance & Improvement Program, and work collaboratively to achieve clinic goals.
  • Comply with all applicable State and Federal regulations, including but not limited to, Dental Board of California (DBCA), OSHA, CalOSHA, and infection control guidelines.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality consistent with state and federal law.
Other Duties
  • Understand the overall practice mission and work collaboratively to achieve long-term and short-term goals for the clinic.
  • Understand practice scope consistent with the mission and values of the clinic.
  • Attend and participate actively in required meetings, trainings, and functions.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with practitioners in the community.
  • Work with the IT department and Dentrix, Guru, and Dexis Support.
  • Communicate with dental laboratories and other outside vendors.
  • Actively contribute to the achievement of the triple aim goals and company strategic goals.
  • Support the department with achieving budget goals and be cost-conscious when requesting materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Perform other related and/or necessary tasks to achieve clinic goals and objectives, as directed by the Chief Dental Officer.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an ADA-accredited Dental School.
  • Active dental license for the state of CA, must have met all applicable state requirements.
  • Completed CE requirements, including Dental Practice Act and Infection Control.
  • Current BLS certification.
