Job Summary
We are seeking a Certified Mobility Specialist to join our team. This is a temporary contract assignment that requires a high level of expertise in working with visually impaired students. The successful candidate will have a strong background in education and experience in developing and implementing hands-on programs and activities for students.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement hands-on programs and activities for visually impaired students
- Work closely with administrators and instructional teams to plan and implement programs
- Participate in a cooperative effort with faculty and staff to plan, implement, and evaluate programs of continuing school improvement
- Manage classroom and supervise proper care of equipment used
- Participate in personal professional growth activities focused on the acquisition of new and improved skills and knowledge
- Diagnose and analyze student progress and programs for the purpose of providing appropriate instruction based on the developmental stages of students
- Utilize a variety of instructional techniques to meet the individual needs of students
- Utilize technology and current research in instruction
- Evaluate students' progress on a regular basis
- Utilize classroom management techniques conducive to an effective classroom climate
- Show sensitivity to students, parents, and the community and promote student self-esteem
- Maintain professional relationships between school and parents
- Maintain contact with parents through parent-teacher conferences, telephone, or written communications
- Encourage parental involvement through school activities, connecting home and school
- Maintain all records as required, including but not limited to grade books, attendance records, and student progress reports
- Assist in the protection of student and school property
- Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by client. With the support of the district, attend training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position
- Responsible for timely and accurate information they maintain as part of their job responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Certification or eligible for certification by the Florida State Department of Education to teach in the State of Florida
- Must hold a FL teaching certification for Teacher of the Visually Impaired
