Position Summary:
The Electronics Components Engineer will oversee component management activities for electronics projects tailored for the aerospace and defense sectors. This role necessitates a comprehensive understanding of component applications in both analog and digital circuits, power electronics, high-speed digital interfaces, as well as FPGA and DSP technologies. Additionally, the candidate must be knowledgeable about the effects of thermal, vibration, radiation, and electromagnetic stress on these components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in electrical and electronic design tasks, focusing on component selection based on performance, materials, construction, availability, and cost considerations.
- Conduct Obsolescence Management activities, providing informed recommendations for alternative components to engineering staff.
- Collaborate with component manufacturers to confirm and validate OEM part numbers, qualified manufacturers, and part availability.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive electronic component databases for Kearfott.
- Critically analyze component manufacturer data sheets to assess suitability for Kearfott product applications.
- Perform reliability assessments and application stress evaluations utilizing ANSYS, Matlab, and other CAE tools.
- Adhere to relevant internal, industry, and government standards.
- Support initiatives aimed at product improvement and cost reduction.
- Engage in design and analysis activities using tools such as Altium, OrCad, HyperLynx, Pspice, and LTSpice.
- Create requirements, specifications, and verification/validation procedures for electronic assemblies.
- Contribute as a member of cross-functional project teams, collaborating with mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and technicians.
- Assist in production, manufacturing, repair, and product enhancement efforts.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in file management systems, including SVN and Sharepoint.
- Experience with formal document release and revision control processes.
- Strong presentation skills, capable of preparing for design reviews and marketing presentations.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, across various engineering disciplines.
- Ability to lead in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
- Open to constructive feedback to enhance personal and project performance.
- Customer-focused mindset with a results-driven approach.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in aerospace and/or defense engineering is required, with 5+ years preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe software.
- Experience in new product development is advantageous.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident Card Holder.
