Chemical Operator Role Summary
The Chemical Operator is responsible for ensuring personal safety, product quality, and production efficiency in the manufacturing of finished goods. Key responsibilities include operating reactors and managing the filling, loading, and unloading of systems and auxiliary equipment.

Essential Functions

  • Operate production machinery and monitor process conditions, key performance indicators, and control systems to maintain optimal rates and conditions.
  • Engage in batch manufacturing, including weighing and charging raw materials into vessels and tanks, and transferring products to storage tanks and other containers.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures to ensure safe and reliable operations.
  • Record and interpret data from instruments and equipment to adjust operations for efficiency and safety.
  • Understand key process variables affecting product quality and consistency, and manage them effectively.
  • Maintain cleanliness in work areas and assist in general cleanup.
  • Support Ortec's goal of zero workplace incidents and participate in EHS programs.
  • Mentor and train new and existing personnel on process operations.
  • Safely operate forklifts and other lifting equipment.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Provide technical support to chemists and engineers.
  • Document data accurately on batch records and charts.
  • Assist with inventory management to ensure adequate supplies.
  • Support new chemical engineering processes or production techniques.
  • Comply with all company and OSHA safety standards.
  • Adhere to applicable FDA and Quality standards.

Qualifications
Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
Experience: Forklift experience preferred; no prior experience necessary.
Skills & Abilities: Basic computer, PLC, and math knowledge.

Work Environment:

Work Schedule:
This position requires availability for a 12-hour rotating shift schedule.
