Overview

University of Utah Health is seeking a highly skilled Certified Nurse Midwife to join our dynamic OB Emergency Room team. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional care to pregnant patients experiencing complications during pregnancy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess the physical condition of pregnant patients with acute and emergent obstetric needs
  • Formulate a medical plan based on the patient's condition
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess the obstetric patient's clinical problems and health care needs
  • Initiate and/or recommend medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved protocols/policy
  • Consult with physician(s) as needed regarding patient health care plans and treatment
Requirements
  • Current licensure to practice as a Certified Nurse Midwife in the State of Utah
  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card through American Heart Association, or obtain within one month of hire
  • Utah State prescriptive privileges (preferred)
  • National certification as a Nurse Midwife (preferred)
Work Environment

This position involves intensive work that may exert up to 100 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects, such as medical equipment, or patients while providing medical care. Workers in this position may be exposed to infectious diseases and may required to function around prisoners or behavioral health patients.
