Staff Accountant Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Accountant to join our team in the construction industry. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for a variety of financial tasks that are essential to the company's success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and maintain financial reports and records, including general ledger, balance sheets, and income statements.
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
  • Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and other issues that should be brought to the CFO's attention.
  • Review all inter-company transactions and generate invoices as necessary.
  • Coordinate semi-annual audits and assist in the preparation of audit schedules, reports, and other financial data.
  • Conduct regular ledger maintenance.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets or forecasts.
  • Participate in preparation for the annual audit.
  • Develop and implement improvements to existing accounting procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with financial statement analysis and a strong understanding of financial metrics.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with accounting software, preferably QuickBooks.
