Job Summary

The Ophthalmic Technician plays a vital role in the success of our medical practice. As a key member of our healthcare team, this individual will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our examination and treatment rooms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Pre- and Post-Procedure Preparation: Ensure examination and treatment rooms are prepared for patient care, including cleaning and maintaining ophthalmic instruments.
  • Vision Screening Examinations: Perform basic and routine vision screening examinations, including visual acuity measurements and refractometry.
  • Medication Administration: Administer eye medications as prescribed by physicians.
  • Assistance with Minor Procedures: Assist physicians during minor in-office procedures, including tonometry and pharmacological pupil tests.
Additional Duties:
  • Patient Communication: Return patient calls, including prescription questions and refills.
  • Visual Field Testing: Conduct diagnostic tests, including central and peripheral visual field testing.
  • Corneal Measurements: Measure pupil size and reactivity, as well as test and measure eye function/muscle balance.
  • Documentation: Document patient information, including no-shows and cancelled appointments.
Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of related experience.
  • Skills: Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in ophthalmology.
