PCSI is seeking a highly skilled Machinery Mechanic III to join our team at NavSea in San Diego, CA. Key Responsibilities- Evaluate the operation of manufacturing machinery, identifying issues that need correcting and making recommendations for continued operation.
- Test machines to confirm the presence or absence of issues and make recommendations for continued operation.
- Disassemble malfunctioning or damaged machines, performing repairs or replacing worn or broken parts to ensure safe continued operation.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance tasks associated with the upkeep and operation of various types of equipment based on a maintenance schedule provided by the government.
- Monitor equipment parts and supply inventories, checking stock to determine inventory level and anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies.
- Submit orders to the SWRMC Facilities representative and verify receipts to ensure correct parts are being ordered in accordance with OEM recommendations.
- Assist electricians in installing and repairing wiring fixtures and equipment in facilities while having a basic electrical knowledge.
- Operate repaired machine to confirm it is fully functional.
- Evaluate the efficiency of each machine, making recommendations for practices or upgrades to improve output rates without compromising operator safety.
- Troubleshoot, perform, and/or assist SWRMC personnel in operations testing, removal/installation, alignments, assemble/disassemble, and equipment inspections as needed.
- Perform market research to identify new machine types and models that will improve the manufacturing process, creating reports to be presented to superiors.
- Demonstrate the correct operation practices to employees who are making mistakes, and train new recruits to operate the machinery safely.
- Operate a company-owned vehicle (and cellular telephone) to transport self and others in performance of assigned duties; perform operator maintenance as required.
- Associate or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or manufacturing engineering preferred.
- 2-3 years working experience in manufacturing or mechanics.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and appliances required for installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing fixtures.
- Ability to follow maintenance instructions, service, diagnose systems, and complete repairs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of plumbing codes and regulations.
- Able to effectively read, write, and speak the English language.
- Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screening.
- Exposure to dirt, dust, loud noise, and outside weather conditions.
- Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
- Possess valid driver's license and maintain good driving record.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a NACI clearance and Common Access Card.
