We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Security Officer to join our team at Spaulding Hospital-Boston & Cambridge (SRN, SRH, SHC). As a key member of our security department, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Provide protective services and response measures to ensure a safe and secure environment.
- Assist in managing the daily operations of the Security Department personnel, including orientation, training, and performance evaluation.
- Investigate thefts, shortages, and other complaints involving potential criminal misconduct.
- Patrol assigned areas, addressing security issues and identifying unsafe conditions.
- Maintain accountability for valuables and evidence in custody.
- Perform dispatcher duties, utilizing integrated security systems and providing necessary documentation.
- Assist workplace and domestic violence victims, respond to medical emergencies, and protect dignitaries.
- Control pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
- Ensure all required training is up-to-date and report errors to the appropriate manager.
- Maintain all hospital-issued uniforms and equipment.
- Provide a wide range of customer services.
- Associate degree in criminal justice or related field.
- One year of supervisory level experience with extensive use of written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving, and public relations.
- Massachusetts Driver's License or a valid license in the employee's state of residence.
- Ability to obtain AVADE Instructor certification within six months of hire.
- Bachelor degree in criminal justice or related field.
- Two-Three years of supervisory experience in a healthcare, law enforcement, or security department/agency.
This position requires working in a fast-paced hospital environment with frequent exposure to stress and pressure. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical RequirementsThis position requires standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods, as well as the ability to lift, carry, and push/pull objects up to 50 pounds. The successful candidate must also be able to work in a variety of environments, including outdoor weather conditions and confined spaces.
