Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Cancer Care Specialist to join our team at Trident Medical Center.
About the RoleThis is a full-time, day shift (7am-7pm) position on our state-of-the-art, 30 bed 4th Floor Medical Oncology unit offering specialized care for our patients with a diagnosis of cancer.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in line with the requirements of the department and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Collaborating with medical providers and the care team, you will provide personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care, following established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage."
- As a key member of our healthcare team, you will maintain overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients.
- You will manage efficient flow of patient care including screening, preparation for exam, providing general nursing care and comfort, and arranging for admissions, testing and discharges.
- You will maintain and review patients' records including posting tests and examination results.
- You will administer medications in accordance with physician orders.
- You will instruct patients and families regarding medications and treatment plans.
- You will respond to and refer incoming telephone calls (may include phone triage when needed).
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A graduate degree from an accredited school of Nursing: Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher is required.
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state which you practice and/or hold an active Compact/Multi-State RN license.
- A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification.
