About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Roadway Engineer to join our team in Miami, FL. As a key member of our transportation practice, you will be responsible for designing and developing transportation infrastructure projects, including roadways, highways, and interchanges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop transportation infrastructure projects, including roadways, highways, and interchanges
  • Develop traffic control plans for DOT and municipal projects
  • Support design-build or other civil engineering projects as needed
  • Develop horizontal and vertical design of roadway elements
  • Develop traffic control and roadway plan sheets and details
  • Review and understand roadway improvement plans
  • Design roadway concept plans for turn lanes, intersections, sidewalks, and pedestrian facilities
  • Design bicycle facilities and complete streets
  • Develop details and special provisions
  • Prepare cost estimates
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff
Requirements
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field from accredited university
  • 3-5 years of progressive engineering design experience with emphasis on transportation engineering
  • Understanding and familiarity with AASHTO, MUTCD, and DOT Design Guidelines and Standards
  • Experience in maintenance of traffic and traffic control
  • Working knowledge of Microstation/Geopak
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Engineer in Training Certification
  • Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements
  • Knowledge of relevant civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements
  • Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience
  • Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineering license
  • Experience in traffic control and construction staging plans
  • Knowledge of Microstation 3D modeling software
