Uvalde Memorial Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department team. As a Registered Nurse in this role, you will provide direct and indirect patient care within the RN scope of practice, prioritizing the physical and psychosocial needs of patients.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care, evaluating outcomes and consulting with other healthcare team members as required.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, flow facilitators, and coworkers about changes in patient condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptoms.
- Responsible for reassessments in all aspects of patient care, monitoring hemodynamic status and interpreting data.
- Respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment, identifying dysrhythmias and treating patients based on ACLS protocols as applicable.
- Triage patients coming to the emergency department and assume patient care as assigned.
- Assist physicians with procedures and perform services requiring technical and manual skills.
- Interpret data about the patient's status to identify each patient's age-specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.
- Give and receive comprehensive report on assigned patients and deliver prompt, accurate, and safe nursing care.
- Formulate a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluate effectiveness of learning, including family in teaching as appropriate.
- Ensure all labs, x-rays, and other reports are completed timely, reviewed, and reported to physician as necessary.
- Inform flow facilitators of changes in patient condition and confer with flow facilitators to determine need before speaking to the physician.
- Address patient and family concerns and direct concerns to flow facilitators, director, house supervisor, and/or patient advocate as needed.
- Maintain accurate and continued nursing documentation, including patient histories, conditions, medications, treatments, responses, and assessment of change.
- Provide an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs.
- Ensure adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
- As a preceptor, may lead one or more employees performing similar work, supervise temporary employees, train new employees, allocate, and monitor work of others.
- Respond to code blue and other emergencies as assigned.
- Current Texas Registered Nurse License required.
- Current BLS for healthcare professionals required at time of hire.
- TNCC required within one year of hire.
- ACLS & PALS (or ENPC) certification preferred.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and STABLE certification preferred.
- Basic Sexual Assault Forensic Evidence Collection Course Required within 2 years.
- Must possess superior ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service.
- Must possess high degree of organization and be able to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
- Advanced computer knowledge required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
