Job Title: Software Engineer for Autonomy

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer for Autonomy to join our team at OKSI. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in the development of the next generation of autonomous systems for defense applications, focusing on improving the decision-making capabilities of our systems in real-time, contested environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, optimize, and implement autonomy algorithms and software stacks for UAS, drones, and other unmanned systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate autonomy capabilities with various sensors and control systems.
  • Design and implement real-time software for autonomous navigation, perception, and control systems.
  • Contribute to the development of machine learning-based autonomy, enhancing decision-making for tasks such as target tracking, obstacle avoidance, and GPS-denied navigation.
  • Lead software development efforts for deploying autonomous systems in fielded applications.
  • Troubleshoot and improve system performance in real-world scenarios, ensuring robustness and reliability.
  • Document code, algorithms, and system designs, and provide technical support to integration and test teams.

Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in autonomy, software development, or robotics.
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python for real-time systems and algorithm development.
  • Strong experience in developing software for autonomous systems, including navigation, control, and perception.
  • Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System), PX4, or similar autonomy software platforms.
  • Solid understanding of AI/ML techniques, sensor fusion, and real-time processing in embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with UAS, drones, and aerospace platforms.
  • Ability to work both independently and in collaborative, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience debugging complex systems in real-world environments.
  • Knowledge of aerospace and defense applications is a plus.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance if required.
