Role Summary

Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center is seeking Substitute Classroom Support Specialists to provide assistance in our preschool settings as needed. Candidates should be available during school hours (8am - 1:15pm) on one or more weekdays. This role offers a valuable opportunity to gain experience in the field of Special Education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Classroom Team in creating and executing age-appropriate educational activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to enhance classroom design and implementation.
  • Ensure a safe, healthy, and organized learning environment.
  • Adhere to site-specific policies and procedures for student transportation and meal distribution.
  • Comply with the guidelines and codes of conduct established for all staff, including participation in mandatory meetings and training.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or GED required.

Experience: Prior experience working with children or in educational settings, particularly with individuals with developmental delays or disabilities, is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Physical tasks may include lifting, bending, kneeling, standing, squatting, reaching, and running.
  • Must possess adequate vision, speech, tactile, and hearing abilities to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Frequent sitting and standing, including floor sitting with students when appropriate.
