Position Overview

The Senior Nuclear Medicine Fusion Technologist is a licensed professional responsible for executing a range of diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures utilizing radiopharmaceuticals. This role is essential in both inpatient and outpatient settings, ensuring safe practices in an acute care environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine to complex nuclear medicine procedures.
  • Engage in the collection, preparation, and analysis of biological specimens.
  • Conduct radiation safety and quality control measures on all Nuclear Medicine equipment.
  • Participate in the training and orientation of new staff, students, and residents.
  • Contribute to performance improvement initiatives within the department.

Advanced Responsibilities:

  • Take on a lead or coordinator role, demonstrating expertise in advanced procedures.
  • Participate actively in annual performance improvement projects and quality assurance meetings.
  • Instruct and mentor junior technologists in specialty procedures.
  • Engage in the development and implementation of clinical and research protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Certification required: NMTCB or ARRT (N).
  • Valid California state license as a Certified Technologist in Nuclear Medicine.
  • Post-primary certification in ARRT Computed Tomography (CT) or NMTCB (CT) is necessary.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • Graduation from a JRCNMT accredited Nuclear Medicine training program.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, with at least 3 years in CT.
  • Flexibility in scheduling and the ability to cover various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Capability to perform routine clinical PET/CT exams and specialty PET/CT exams independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor less experienced technologists.
