Demolition Project Manager

Job Overview

The General Superintendent is a key leadership role at Veit & Company Inc, responsible for overseeing the total demolition effort to ensure projects are completed in accordance with safety, design, budget, and schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Manages day-to-day operations in the field, including scheduling and coordinating labor resources, determining materials quantity and delivery, and ensuring timecards, logs, estimates, and necessary reports are completed on time.
• Remains informed of progress on all jobs assigned and instructs Superintendents on issues and areas of concern.
• Acts as a liaison between clients, project managers, and superintendents.
• Produces and communicates Workforce Schedule for projects to keep division crews active and balanced.
• Ensures all necessary paperwork is processed in a timely manner to keep project schedules accurate.
• Tracks project budgets and works to complete projects within assigned budgets.
• Supports and participates in training, ensuring all crews are trained properly in safety, skill, and supervisory skills where applicable.
• Participates in meetings to discuss project start-up and future plans.
• Prepares and participates in regular job site meetings throughout the project.
• Oversees crew mobilization, moves, and other logistical tasks.
• Provides guidance to crews on maintaining a safe working environment for all employees by enforcing company safety guidelines, OSHA guidelines, and other applicable safety standards.
• Oversees team dynamics for maximum productivity, quality, and safety.
• Provides timely and accurate documentation for reporting of safety issues according to Veit policies and procedures.
• Ensures that proper authorizations are obtained before beginning work on extras and change orders.
• Controls and monitors all change orders and extra work orders to ensure field completion.
• Ensures all work follows specified quality standards.
• Inspects field work for quality compliance, materials for quality compliance, and reviews assembly of manufacturer's literature and drawings before work starts.
• Controls costs through efficient utilization of manpower, equipment, materials, and other resources to minimize costs.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Superintendent overseeing heavy industrial demolition work.
• HAZWOPER, OSHA 10 HOUR, OSHA 30 HOUR, Asbestos Supervisor Certification, Blueprint Reading, CPR, First Aid certifications, or the ability to obtain.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, iPad, and iPhone.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, reports, construction plans, construction specifications, and legal documents.
• Ability to communicate and schedule project needs appropriately.
• Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with employees, clients, and other business associates.
• Ability to maintain knowledge of local, county, and state rules and regulations relating to projects and inform crews of how to act accordingly.
• Ability to stay up-to-date on construction means, methods, and procedures.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical field quantity situations.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

What Will Set You Apart

• Working knowledge of HCSS Software Suite is preferred but not required.

Supervisory Responsibility

• Manages Demolition Project Superintendents/Foremen.

Other

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
• Position requires 8 to 10-hour workdays and occasional weekends, as needed.
• Must be over the age of 18.
• Union affiliation or willingness to join the union is required.
• Must be located within the Milwaukee area. Relocation assistance may be available.
• Requires travel throughout the United States (20%).

Most often an office environment, however, jobsite travel is required. Employee frequently works alone and with others. Frequently exposed to variable work environments, including unique conditions outside a typical office environment. Occasionally exposed to moving machinery, odors, dust, pressurized equipment. Occasionally exposed to electrical hazards. May be exposed to environmental conditions, loud noises, and variable weather including rain, snow, wind, cold, and heat.
