Key Responsibilities
  • Operate various types of heavy equipment used in underground construction, including horizontal directional drills, propelled plows, bore machines, and fiber optics installation equipment.
  • Install, repair, and maintain underground utilities, ensuring adherence to all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Interpret blueprints, maps, and other diagrams to determine the location and direction of utilities.
  • Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to the supervisor.
  • Coordinate with the team to ensure efficient completion of projects, maintaining communication with the crew regarding any changes or issues.
  • Adhere to all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or project manager.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment in the construction industry, specifically with horizontal directional drills, propelled plows, and bore machines.
  • Class A CDL or ability to obtain within a specified time frame.
  • Proven experience with fiber optics installation and a solid understanding of underground utilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Excellent physical condition and endurance to perform strenuous activities under varying and adverse weather conditions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • High degree of precision and attention to detail in a potentially hazardous environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work well in a team.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
