Position Overview

The Armed Security Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining a secure and safe environment for all individuals within the Medical Center. This position involves the enforcement of established policies and procedures to protect patients, visitors, staff, and property.

Key Responsibilities

  • Emergency Response: Address unusual or emergency situations with appropriate measures, including armed response, adhering to established protocols. (20%)
  • Patrol Duties: Conduct regular patrols of the premises, inspecting buildings and access points to ensure security. (20%)
  • Access Control: Monitor and authorize the entry and exit of individuals to prevent theft and maintain the security of the premises. (20%)
  • Documentation: Issue tickets and citations while maintaining a detailed log of all activities. (15%)
  • Alarm Response: Ensure prompt response to alarms and investigate any disturbances. (15%)
  • Incident Management: Respond to all incidents on campus as necessary, providing assistance to emergency responders and rendering aid to mitigate situations. (10%)

Qualifications

Education:

  • Preferred: Completion of Security Training, Military Training, or Law Enforcement Training.
  • Minimum: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Completion of Police Firearms Training Program - NRA Certified is required.

Experience:

  • Preferred: 2 years in Legal - Law Enforcement or Armed Security.
  • Minimum: 1 year in Legal - Law Enforcement or Armed Security. Must be at least 21 years old.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Preferred: Commercial Driver's License and Taser Certification.
  • Minimum: Valid Driver's License for the State, eligibility for Weapons Permit, and maintenance of a Surety Bond during employment. OC or Pepper Spray Certification is required or willingness to obtain.

Special Skills:

Must be in good physical condition, capable of operating a motorized vehicle with manual transmission, and able to operate a 2-wheel vehicle.
