Job Title: Medical Assistant

At QualDerm Partners, LLC, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality dermatological services.

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting healthcare providers with patient care, creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere for patients, and maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records. Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist healthcare providers with patient care, including preparing patients for exams and procedures, and maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records.
  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms, help patients prepare for exams, and review health histories to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Clean and maintain exam rooms, including emptying laundry bins and restocking supplies.
  • Organize patient flow according to established protocols, prioritizing rooming patients, taking patient histories, and setting up rooms for procedures.
  • Prepare procedure trays, instruments, and equipment according to instructions, and assist healthcare providers during exams and procedures.
  • Prepare and send path and lab specimens, complete requisition forms accurately, and document specimens in the path log.
  • Review pathology and lab results with patients, and document visit information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Respond to patient questions in the office and on the phone, and schedule surgical procedure appointments as needed.
  • Phone prescriptions and refills to pharmacies, and maintain accurate and up-to-date medication records.
  • Be familiar and compliant with OSHA Blood Borne Pathogen standards, and maintain infection control policies in the office.
  • Upkeep and cleanliness of exam rooms, supply cabinets, and drawers, and maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records.
  • Document all medical instructions given to patients, and maintain knowledge of HIPAA privacy standards.
  • Be knowledgeable of all products and procedures in the office, and be able to explain them to patients.
  • Be knowledgeable of office financial policies and fees, and assist with obtaining preauthorization for medications as needed.
  • Schedule appointments for patients with other specialists, fax records as necessary, and assist with office housekeeping duties as directed.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma required
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred
  • Medical Terminology knowledge
  • 1-2 years' experience in a medical office (dermatology practice preferred)
