As a Patient Care Nursing Assistant (PCNA) in the Flexible Pool, you will engage with a variety of patient demographics across multiple units and departments, gaining insights from some of our most skilled caregivers. Key Responsibilities:
- Report any abnormal findings or changes in patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions to the RN.
- Assist with essential tasks such as monitoring vital signs, supporting personal care, facilitating patient transfers, and performing point-of-care testing.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in patient rooms.
- Exhibit a positive and compassionate demeanor in all interactions.
- Utilize strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
- Follow oral and written instructions accurately.
- Perform basic clinical mathematics as required.
- Complete additional duties as assigned, demonstrating competencies in professional, technical, and clinical knowledge.

Educational Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
Certifications:
- State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required within the new hire period.
- Nursing students must have BLS certification prior to hire.
Work Complexity:
- Requires critical thinking abilities, sound judgment, and the capacity to work independently.
- Must be able to operate effectively in a high-pressure environment and respond appropriately.
Experience Requirements:
- Demonstrated proficiency in applied mathematics and reading comprehension at a minimum junior high level as assessed during employment evaluation.
- Nursing students who have completed at least one clinical rotation in an accredited nursing program may substitute this experience.
- Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman, Combat Medic, or Medical Service Technician will be considered.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires full body mobility to assist and lift patients, along with manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination; involves significant standing and walking.
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical demands exceed those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Adhere to standard precautions and utilize personal protective equipment as necessary.
