Job Description:

A Medical Assistant plays a vital role in providing care to patients in an ambulatory clinic setting. This involves caring for patients with acute and chronic needs. Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide basic clerical and office duties, including assembling necessary documents and supplies, and maintaining medical records.
  • Perform business and financial duties, such as assigning procedural and diagnostic coding to encounter forms, and facilitating timely billing.
  • Conduct pre-authorizations and referrals in accordance with third-party insurer requirements.
  • Assist providers with examinations, procedures, treatments, and interventions.
  • Provide patient education as directed, and report significant changes in patient condition or other pertinent patient information to the Physician.
Requirements:
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program, or 1 year of Medical Assistant Experience, or current RN/LPN license.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Current national MA certification from one of the following national MA certifications or registrations: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) of AMT, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) of the AAMA.
Work Environment:

This role is based at Cedar City Hospital, with occasional weekend shifts required. As a Medical Assistant with Intermountain Health, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive team environment, with access to ongoing training and development opportunities.
