ACCIONA Energía is a leading renewable energy company with a strong presence in the global market. As a Senior Asset Trader, you will play a crucial role in maximizing revenues from our operating and development fleet of generation assets.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optimization strategies for wind, solar, and energy storage facilities. You will be responsible for developing hedging and optimization strategies, partnering with junior traders to create daily optimization plans, and executing through various market channels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement optimization strategies for renewable assets to maximize revenue.
  • Collaborate with junior traders to create daily optimization plans and execute bidding strategies.
  • Manage portfolio exposures, including intermittency and basis risk, to suggest operational and hedging strategies.
  • Work with third-party providers to deploy optimization strategies for energy storage portfolios.
  • Perform analyses of grid operations, congestion, power flows, weather, generation, and transmission outages to inform forward views.
  • Support new project pipeline and M&A goals by assessing merchant and structured offtake opportunities.
  • Participate in cross-department projects to advance the execution and operational capabilities of the Power Marketing function.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, such as Physics, Mathematics, Business, or Engineering.
  • 7-10 years of industry experience, with at least 2 years in a similar role at an Independent Power Producer, Utility, or Energy Company.
  • Proven track record in optimization strategies for wind, solar, and/or energy storage facilities.
  • Experience with computer programming languages, such as R and Python, is a plus.
  • Strong commercial instincts, exceptional communication skills, and self-starter mentality.
