Job Title: Recreational Therapist

Denali Family Services is seeking a skilled Recreational Therapist to join our team in providing therapeutic recreational interventions to severely emotionally disturbed consumers in individual and group settings.

Job Summary:

The Recreational Therapist will work cooperatively within an interdisciplinary treatment team to apply clinical treatment plans and provide services at our Anchorage and Wasilla locations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize the therapeutic recreation process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate recreation-based therapeutic interventions.
  • Support the development of evidence-based practices and select, conduct, and analyze client assessments.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate interventions and/or programs in accordance with company mission and client goals.
  • Document client participation and behavioral observations in a timely manner.
  • Transport clients to/from home, school, the agency, and community settings as part of their treatment program.
  • Develop and maintain a therapeutic relationship with clients and their families.
  • Seek clinical and administrative direction and attend meetings and committees as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in therapeutic recreation, social work, human services, psychology, or a closely related field.
  • Current national registration as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) preferred.
  • Proficiency with the APIED process and familiarity with client service plans and targeted goals.
  • Excellent written communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and lead as needed.
Working Conditions:

Work is performed at the Denali Family Services offices in Anchorage and Wasilla, in schools, in homes, and in the community.

Other Requirements: Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification, maintain a valid Alaska Driver's License, and a violation-free driving record for the past year.
