Denali Family Services is seeking a skilled Recreational Therapist to join our team in providing therapeutic recreational interventions to severely emotionally disturbed consumers in individual and group settings.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will work cooperatively within an interdisciplinary treatment team to apply clinical treatment plans and provide evidence-based practices. This role requires a strong understanding of the therapeutic recreation process, including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of recreation-based therapeutic interventions.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement therapeutic recreation plans in accordance with client goals and company mission.
- Conduct client assessments and select, conduct, and analyze assessments to inform treatment plans.
- Transport clients to/from home, school, the agency, and community settings as part of their treatment program.
- Maintain a therapeutic relationship with clients and their families, and actively seek clinical and administrative direction.
- Attend and participate in meetings and on committees as assigned, and actively contribute to onboarding and training new department staff and interns.
- Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or a closely related field.
- Current national registration as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) preferred.
- Proficiency with the APIED process, Medicaid billing regulations, and Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to accurately document events and provide detailed records for clients.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and ensure client and employee confidentiality as prescribed by agency policy and federal law.
Work is performed at the Denali Family Services offices in Anchorage and Wasilla, in schools, in homes, and in the community. The successful candidate must be able to perform sedentary work, engage in physical exercise with consumers, and lift 40 lbs. Visual acuity is necessary to utilize a computer monitor throughout the course of a normal workday.
