Scrub Tech Intern Position

Job Summary:

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Scrub Tech Intern. As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for assembling supplies for procedures, maintaining a sterile environment, and assisting in the operating room.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure availability of necessary instrumentation, supplies, and equipment for assigned cases.
  • Prepare the operating room for upcoming cases, ensuring all necessary equipment is available and ready for use.
  • Clean, arrange, and transport instruments to the soiled workroom according to department policy.
  • Assist with instrument reprocessing tasks when assigned cases are completed and time permits.
  • Exhibit practical knowledge of OR equipment, including maintenance and safety aspects.
  • Utilize available communication tools and demonstrate teamwork by offering assistance to other team members.
  • Share knowledge, information, and expertise with other staff.
  • Attend departmental in-services and educational offerings, consistently demonstrating new knowledge and skills through incorporation into actual clinical practice.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED PLUS Graduate of accredited Scrub Technologist school or online program.
  • Ability to don and perform routine tasks in personal protective equipment, including N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).
