DPS Painter

We are seeking a skilled Painter to join our team at the Texas Department of Public Safety. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing complex building maintenance work, including painting, staining, and applying coatings to surfaces.

• Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, scraping, and removing old paint
• Make on-site preparations for covering fixtures and filling cracks and holes with appropriate materials
• Blend paint colors and other materials to achieve the right color and texture
• Paint surfaces as directed, using a variety of techniques and equipment
• Clean areas and materials as part of painting projects and primary assignments
• Perform clerical duties, including opening and closing work orders
• Assist the maintenance team in performing their duties
• Perform inventories of supplies and materials
• Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of five years of experience in facilities, maintenance, or construction duties, or three years of experience in residential or commercial painting
• Valid driver's license from the state of residence
• Working knowledge of TXDPS, State and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies, and procedures
• Ability to work in a safe manner at all times, avoiding shortcuts that have potential adverse results/risks

This position requires the ability to work in a variety of environments, including offices, outdoors, and vehicles. The employee must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and transfer weights of up to 50 pounds. Moderate frequency of driving is required.
