We are seeking a skilled Painter to join our team at the Texas Department of Public Safety. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing complex building maintenance work, including painting, staining, and applying coatings to surfaces.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, scraping, and removing old paint.
- Make on-site preparations for covering fixtures and filling cracks and holes with appropriate materials.
- Blend paint colors and other materials to achieve the right color and texture.
- Paint surfaces as directed, using a variety of techniques and equipment.
- Perform requisite clerical duties, including opening and closing work orders.
- Assist the maintenance team in performing their duties.
- Perform inventories of supplies and materials.
- Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of five years' experience in facilities, maintenance, or construction duties, or three years' experience in residential or commercial painting.
- Valid driver's license from the state of residence.
- Working knowledge of TXDPS, State and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Working knowledge of proper painting techniques, including paint mixing, preparation, application, and clean-up.
- Ability to work in a safe manner at all times, avoiding shortcuts that have potential adverse results or risks.

Ability to transfer weights of 50 pounds anticipated for this position.
Driving requirements: Moderate frequency (20%).
