OBJECTIVE: The Merchandising Strategy Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing the product management cycle for all merchandise categories across the extensive network of Love's Travel Stops. This role is integral in assisting the category management teams to ensure that all projects and initiatives are executed with precision.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Category Manager in developing strategies and executing plans for your designated areas.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with internal teams to promote effective collaboration.
  • Support field merchandising teams, addressing any challenges or opportunities that arise.
  • Manage vendor relations, including establishing connections, planning, assessing store-level requirements, and ensuring effective communication.
  • Conduct financial analyses, evaluate performance metrics, identify trends, and make informed decisions that positively influence profit and loss statements and budgets.
  • Facilitate communication regarding projects, new initiatives, field directives, and interactions with internal departments.
  • Oversee product management tasks, including product lifecycle management, the 4Ps, and item setup and maintenance in various systems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Educational Background:
    • Bachelor's degree or higher preferred.
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Professional Experience:
    • 1-3 years of retail experience required.
    • Experience in the beverage sector is preferred, whether from a supplier or buyer perspective.
    • Preferred experience in managing vendor relationships.
    • Proven ability to establish and nurture positive business relationships.
    • Experience with accounts payable and technical implementations is a plus.

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Skills:
    • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel capabilities.
    • Interpersonal Skills: Stable work history, effective written and verbal communication, teamwork, attention to detail, self-motivation, ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, strong analytical skills, and the capability to identify and extract insights from relevant data.
  • Physical Demands:
    • Flexibility in scheduling; occasional travel may be necessary.
    • Requires prolonged periods of sitting, with some bending and stooping.
    • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
    • Manual dexterity sufficient for operating a computer keyboard and calculator.
