Licensed Occupational Therapist

MedStar Health is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to provide exceptional care to our patients. We are looking for a professional with a strong foundation in occupational therapy, capable of utilizing diverse assessment and treatment methodologies while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for delivering comprehensive occupational therapy services, which encompass screening and evaluation, crafting treatment plans, executing treatment strategies, reassessing and modifying treatment as necessary, planning for patient discharge, and maintaining thorough documentation. Additionally, the Occupational Therapist may engage in program development and protocol enhancement as needed, contributing to the achievement of established objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough evaluation services, including reviewing relevant historical data, performing targeted assessments, and formulating recommendations while documenting outcomes. Communicate evaluation results and treatment plans to patients and their families, involving them in goal-setting processes.
- Exhibit expertise in executing treatment protocols based on evaluation results, patient conditions, and the dynamic healthcare landscape. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals as necessary, recognizing and documenting any changes in the patient's condition that may require adjustments to the care plan or additional consultations.
- Facilitate effective discharge planning and follow-up care. Ensure timely and accurate documentation of patient care activities, providing a clear narrative of the patient's treatment journey, including initial evaluations, daily notes, progress summaries, and discharge assessments.
- Demonstrate proficient time management skills and meet productivity standards. Maintain an organized schedule and show a commitment to providing seamless patient access to care through adaptability, creativity, and empathetic interactions in a patient-centered environment.
- Proactively pursue continuing education opportunities for personal and organizational growth. Serve as a clinical mentor for students and assist in the orientation and training of new staff, students, volunteers, and technicians.
- A Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Licensure in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and/or Virginia as required for your specific location.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association.
