About the Role

The Senior IT Engineer for Open Source Solutions is tasked with overseeing the operations and maintenance of our local Open Source technology framework, which is essential for supporting manufacturing processes from an IT/OT perspective in a global setting. This role serves as the primary contact for locally utilized systems, ensuring optimal service levels to meet evolving business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and troubleshoot end-user computing systems across the organization.
  • Assist in aligning IT and OT roadmaps.
  • Design and implement tools that bridge IT and OT environments.
  • Develop a modern and flexible service delivery model.
  • Promote new technologies, particularly in open source and cloud-native initiatives.
  • Establish a containerization platform tailored to our needs.
  • Engage in industry forums to stay updated on trends and showcase our achievements.
  • Mentor the infrastructure team to enhance technical expertise.
  • Provide advanced support for complex technical issues within the Open Source domain.
  • Guide and offer critical technical insights.
  • Create and deploy application packages for endpoint devices.
  • Contribute to various projects involving infrastructure and application systems.
  • Analyze inquiries and participate in critical incident management.
  • Identify appropriate technical areas or vendors for problem resolution.
  • Participate in project execution and quality assurance as required.
  • Ensure effective service delivery from the IT ServiceDesk.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing Open Source technology stacks to support manufacturing operations within a global organization.

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with 14 years of experience in open source technologies, or
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field with 10 years of experience in open source technologies, or
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field with 8 years of experience in open source technologies.
  • Experience in implementing Enterprise Linux/*NIX hosting capabilities.
  • Familiarity with OpenStack tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Nagios, Zabbix, or similar.
  • Foundational knowledge of security in Open Source technologies.
  • Experience in manufacturing IT/OT environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities to identify and resolve issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with fluency in English.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Commitment to automation and process simplification.
  • Collaborative spirit with a willingness to work with global teams.
  • High sense of responsibility and ownership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Business Administration.
  • Experience in a Life Sciences or GMP manufacturing environment.
