Position Overview

Compensation starts at $39+/hr

An Infusion Nurse II is a licensed registered nurse responsible for coordinating and delivering intermediate direct patient care in home settings or alternate infusion suites, ensuring patient safety and adherence to a physician's care plan. This role operates under the structured supervision of a designated supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Initiates, develops, and executes intermediate nursing care plans, monitoring patient progress towards established goals. Participates in direct patient care, administers treatments and medications, and educates patients and their families. Modifies treatment plans based on patient status or physician directives to meet care objectives.
  • Assesses patient needs and conditions during each visit through health data analysis and patient interviews. Re-evaluates patient needs based on physical assessments, therapy responses, and physician orders. Clarifies treatment modifications with physicians and promptly reports significant changes in patient conditions.
  • Provides mentorship and training to Infusion Nurse I's to ensure compliance and patient safety.
  • Delivers effective education using a patient-centered approach to empower patients and families in managing their therapy and care needs.
  • Maintains effective communication with Option Care's clinical team, medical providers, patients, and families to ensure continuity of care. Prepares clinical documentation in real-time during visits and submits it to the nursing department to comply with billing timelines.
  • Organizes discharge planning and creates discharge summaries with patient instructions, thoroughly reporting on patient care needs and progress during transitions.
  • Adheres to agency operations, Option Care's policies, professional standards, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Enhances operational efficiency through the use of technology to validate treatment orders, document care provided, and manage visit schedules.
  • Responds promptly to patient requests and initiates emergency protocols as necessary.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional conduct and ethical practice, following established policies that reflect Option Care's mission and values.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient and proprietary information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Educates patients about Option Care's services and related financial responsibilities.
  • Completes required training and continuing education to maintain competency and licensure, effectively supervising paraprofessionals as needed.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings and provides training and mentoring to new nurses.
  • Contributes to nursing department on-call duties.
  • Performs other relevant tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Basic Education and Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience.

Essential Qualifications

  • Demonstrated competence in patient care standards essential for safe service delivery and infusion skill sets relevant to agency programs.
  • Valid driver's license in the state of practice with access to a vehicle for business travel.
  • Basic proficiency in computer systems and software applications for effective communication and documentation.
Physical Demands
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds, with a maximum lifting capacity of 75 pounds. Physical demands may include walking, standing, crouching, kneeling, and other movements.
  • Potential exposure to blood, body fluids, and hazardous materials. Safety requirements include appropriate personal protective equipment.
Travel Requirements
  • Willingness to travel up to 100% for business purposes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution preferred.
  • 1-2 years of prior infusion nursing experience preferred.
