Histotechnologist - Anatomic Laboratory Science Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Histotechnologist to join our team at Axia Women's Health. As a key member of our laboratory, you will be responsible for the examination and processing of biopsy specimens taken from the human body for use in the diagnosis, prevention or treatment of a disease or the assessment of a medical condition.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in anatomic laboratory science, with experience in histology and tissue preparation. You will be responsible for performing tissue preparation to include grossing processing, embedding, microtomy and staining, and providing these slides to the pathologist with appropriate documentation and control material for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

In addition to your technical skills, you will also be responsible for performing special stains and immunohistological procedures, including all aspects of antigen retrieval, processing and staining, and quality control and validation. You will also be responsible for performing the required preventative maintenance on all equipment as defined by the standard operating procedure.

Responsibilities:

  • Examine and process biopsy specimens taken from the human body for use in the diagnosis, prevention or treatment of a disease or the assessment of a medical condition.
  • Perform tissue preparation to include grossing processing, embedding, microtomy and staining.
  • Provide slides to the pathologist with appropriate documentation and control material for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
  • Perform special stains and immunohistological procedures, including all aspects of antigen retrieval, processing and staining, and quality control and validation.
  • Perform the required preventative maintenance on all equipment as defined by the standard operating procedure.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Histotechnology, Biology, Medical Laboratory Science).
  • Certification as a Histotechnologist (HT or HTL), Medical Technologist (MT), or Immunohistochemistry Specialist (IHC) by a recognized accrediting agency (e.g., ASCP).
  • 5 years' experience in a clinical or hospital laboratory performing both histology procedures to include routine and special stains as well as immunohistochemistry and FISH procedures.
