Position Overview:
The Emergency Medicine Physician is accountable for delivering direct patient care by thoroughly assessing patients' medical histories while gathering, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data relevant to their health conditions. This role requires prompt decision-making and actions to avert life-threatening situations or further complications, both in prehospital environments by overseeing emergency medical technicians and within the emergency department.
Key Responsibilities:
Emergency Department Highlights:- Collaboration with a team of six ED physicians
- Robust support from full-time hospitalist coverage and various specialties including surgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, and more
- 24/7 access to specialized service lines such as mental health and cardiology
- Annual patient visits totaling approximately 9,000
- 11-bed emergency department
- Experienced team of CRNAs, nurses, and employed EMS professionals
- Level IV Trauma Center, Stroke Ready designation
- Facilitated transfers to an affiliated tertiary care hospital network
- Utilization of Epic with Dragon dictation
- Flexible scheduling with 12-hour shifts
- Daily operations of an Express Care Clinic staffed by clinic physicians and APPs
- Eligibility for relocation and signing bonuses
- Hospital-employed model
Qualifications:
Essential Requirements:- MD, DO, or equivalent foreign training
- Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited residency in Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine with Emergency Medicine experience
- Active, unrestricted medical license in Minnesota (or capability to obtain)
- Ability to secure and maintain MN DEA certification and National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Compliance with credentialing and hospital privileges criteria
- ACLS/BLS certification required within 180 days of hire
- ATLS or CALS certification
- PALS certification required
