As a key member of our transportation team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe transportation of students and staff while adhering to all traffic laws and district policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate MPV buses according to assigned schedules and routes, transporting passengers to and from school, various school sites, and on field trips as assigned.
  • Assume charge of the MPV bus and passengers while the bus is in route, ensuring their safety and conduct.
  • Provide notification of delays in scheduled routes and assist passengers in proper loading and unloading procedures.
  • Ensure students are seated using seat belts at all times and conduct a sweep of the bus to ensure no passengers are left unattended.
  • Document and report discipline problems to the transportation supervisor and maintain a clean bus externally and internally.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, report maintenance problems via the Samsara system, and make neat, legible, and accurate transportation records as required.
  • Render assistance when the bus breaks down or is involved in an accident and report all accidents in accordance with the established accident protocol.
  • Attend all assigned training, safety meetings, and in-service meetings, and maintain a good working relationship with parents and school staff.
  • Follow the Dallas ISD Employee Standards of Conduct, exhibit good judgment in decision-making, and work effectively with others.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) preferred.
  • Maintain a minimum of a Class C driver's license issued by the State of Texas.
  • Satisfactorily pass Dallas ISD driver certification for MPV driver.
  • Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) alcohol and drug tests and annual physical exam.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Meet the type 3 driving record that meets the District's standard for operations of motor vehicles.
  • Good judgment in decision-making, problem-solving, and working effectively with others.
  • Punctual and reliable, with the ability to communicate effectively in speaking, reading, and writing.
