This position serves as the financial lead for the planning, forecasting, reporting, and analysis of our energy expenditures, working closely with various finance teams and operational partners.

The selected candidate will also collaborate with stakeholders to assess energy-related opportunities, including investments in renewable energy and technologies aimed at reducing consumption.

Applicants should possess extensive knowledge of electricity pricing dynamics, supplier variations, and corporate energy budget management, along with the ability to articulate trends to senior management. Proficiency in handling large datasets and continuous process improvement is essential.

This is a principal-level position, reflecting the expertise and analytical acumen necessary for success. It presents a unique opportunity to become the leading expert in a vital area and gain exposure to senior leadership.


Key Responsibilities:

Budgeting & Forecasting:
Enhance and maintain current budgeting and forecasting processes and models, collaborating with operational partners to gather key assumptions for a comprehensive consumption forecast.

Develop proficiency with essential finance systems utilized in budgeting, forecasting, and results analysis.

Maintain accurate forecasts for current and upcoming year expenditures based on consumption trends and external market forecasts.

Identify discrepancies in planning and work with clients to address them.


Monthly Results:
Oversee the monthly financial closing process for energy, including consumption and rate results, along with variance explanations.

Manage the monthly accrual process to capture outstanding invoices and align consumption timing to achieve the most precise estimate of net electricity rates.

Prepare accurate month-end journal entries and provide results updates to operational partners.


Additional Responsibilities:
Develop a comprehensive understanding of AlienVault's large-scale renewable energy investments and green energy credits, supporting clients in exploring new opportunities.

Establish strong working relationships with external energy bill management partners and energy market strategy consultants.

Assist partners in evaluating various investment and partnership opportunities within the energy optimization sector.

Support clients in discussions with energy strategy consultants regarding hedging strategies.


Key Skills and Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience managing energy expenditures for a large organization is required. A deep understanding of energy markets, including both regulated and deregulated electricity costs, is essential. Strong Excel modeling skills are necessary, along with the ability to source and analyze large datasets from various systems. Effective communication skills are critical for presenting results to senior management and addressing ad hoc inquiries.
