Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled CT Technologist to join our team at Ochsner LSU Health System. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for assessing patients and safely performing routine CT procedures in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures and protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify physician orders and procedures to ensure accuracy
  • Utilize radiology information systems to facilitate patient care
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Operate CT equipment to complete imaging procedures according to protocol
  • Review patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality standards
  • Complete quality control procedures and perform notification/remediation as warranted
  • Assist in departmental operations, including inventory, staff schedules, and equipment maintenance
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiography (R) and/or certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) required
  • Current unrestricted license in the state of practice required
  • Advanced certification in CT required by an organization recognized by the ACR Registry within two years of employment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Clinical CT experience preferred
  • Advanced certification in CT required by an organization recognized by the ACR Registry preferred

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Mechanical lifting devices or team lifts should be utilized. Must be able to stoop, bend, reach, and grab with arms and hands, manual dexterity. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities.

Work Environment

Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue. The incumbent works in a patient care area; works in an area where patients enter; works directly with patients; and/or works with specimens that could contain communicable diseases. There may be an occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be an occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning, and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
