About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Risk Advisory Manager to join our team at Truist. As a key member of our Governance and Controls Office, you will play a critical role in identifying, mitigating, and managing risks that support our Corporate and Investment banking business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of risk advisors in executing risk management programs and activities, including risk control self-assessments and issues management.
- Collaborate with business line leadership to identify, assess, control, mitigate, and communicate risks associated with business processes and decisions.
- Provide oversight and governance to assigned business units regarding their control environments.
- Support the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
- Provide risk management support and oversight for change activities, including business and regulatory changes.
- Evaluate the root cause of open risk, audit, and regulatory issues, and work with business partners to implement and document remediation.
- Support the business and governance & reporting team for all audit and regulatory exam engagements.
- Communicate with assigned business units leadership regarding risk, regulatory, audit, and loan review activities.
- Coach and develop risk advisor teammates within the Governance and Controls Office.
- Present materials and lead discussions with senior leaders, committees, audit, and regulators as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
- At least 10 years of risk management experience in financial services or a related field.
- 7 years of leadership experience.
- Subject matter expertise in assigned/specified line of business.
- Broad risk and regulatory knowledge, with an emphasis on Credit, Market, Liquidity, Compliance, Operational, Reputation, and Strategic Risks.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to think critically and strategically, multi-task, and drive change.
- Strong quantitative, governance, and analytic abilities.
- Ability to provide effective challenge to senior leaders and business partners.
- Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products.
- Ability to travel, occasionally overnight.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree in Finance or a related field.
- 15 years of risk management experience in financial services or a related field.
- Financial Risk Manager (FRM)/Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) or equivalent advanced risk certification.
- Advanced knowledge of industry, including investment banking, capital markets, market, and other products, including asset financing.
- Advanced knowledge of risk infrastructure, including regulatory framework for broker-dealer and swap dealer entities.
- FINRA Series 7, 24, 53, and 66 licenses (Series 9&10 can be used in lieu of 53. Series 63&65 can be used in lieu of Series 66).
