About the RoleWe are seeking a dedicated and passionate Science and Special Education Teacher to join our team at Northern Rivers Family of Services. As a Science and Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing classroom instructional plans for students, supporting student success in academic and behavioral goals, and working closely with the Assistant Principal to ensure the highest standards of education.
Responsibilities- Implement individualized instruction in the area of Science to High school students in accordance with New York State curriculum standards and graduation requirements.
- Develop and implement Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) for all students on your caseload, ensuring that accommodations and modifications are provided, and progress is monitored.
- Coordinate the creation of special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
- Develop and coordinate the implementation of single and classroom behavior plans for managing student behavior to maintain discipline in the classroom.
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Special Education (Master's Degree preferred) or subject area, and the ability to work with students who demonstrate serious emotional and behavioral challenges, ages 6-21.
- Requires an NYS certification in Special Education or an appropriate subject area.
