Facilities Maintenance Supervisor – University of Connecticut

Salary Range:
$65,463.00 - $83,829.00 Yearly. New hires typically start at the minimum of the pay scale.

Position Overview:
The University of Connecticut's Facilities Operations Department is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Supervisor for the Stamford Campus. This is a permanent, full-time position on the first shift, with a work schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., totaling 37.5 hours per week, excluding a half-hour unpaid lunch break. Job Responsibilities:
This role is categorized as Emergency Support Services/Essential Staff, requiring readiness to work during emergency situations or significant events affecting campus operations. The selected candidate will primarily be based at the Stamford Campus but may also be required to perform duties at other Regional Campuses as needed.

Key Duties Include:
  • Supervising skilled work assigned to both NP-2 and contracted employees.
  • Coordinating daily work assignments across various employee levels, from skilled trades to custodial staff.
  • Estimating labor and materials for projects, including preparing quotes.
  • Providing updates to supervisors and managers regarding job status and progress.
  • Assisting staff with troubleshooting and resolving issues.
  • Completing work orders and collaborating with management on disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Monitoring job assignments from initiation to completion.
  • Overseeing renovations and upgrades, ensuring effective communication with customers.
  • Reviewing and approving time entries and managing overtime equalization rosters.
  • Completing necessary administrative tasks and paperwork.
  • Coordinating Environmental Health & Safety training for employees.

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a valid motor vehicle operator license. This position is open to the public. To be considered, candidates must meet the minimum qualifications outlined in the job listing and clearly specify their qualifications in their application.

Minimum Experience:
Candidates should have five (5) years of experience in building maintenance and repair. Three (3) years of this experience must include skilled tasks in maintenance or relevant military experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge and experience in trade areas such as Electrical, Plumbing, or HVACR are advantageous. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential. Familiarity with software such as AiM, Microsoft Excel, and CORE-CT is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
Candidates must possess adequate physical strength and stamina to perform the duties of the position, including the ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 75 lbs, climb ladders, and operate motor vehicles.
