About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Solar Electrical/Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. This is a permanent position that offers an exciting opportunity to play a critical role in the design, development, and implementation of solar energy systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and engineer solar PV systems for residential, commercial, and utility-scale projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant engineering standards and codes.
  • Utilize ETAP software for electrical system modeling, design, and analysis.
  • Perform site-specific engineering analysis or evaluation of energy efficiency and solar projects involving residential, commercial, or industrial customers.
  • Create and revise drawings and layouts for solar energy systems, including system components and electrical interconnections.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and other engineers to ensure seamless integration of solar design elements into overall project design.
  • Conduct electrical load calculations and determine appropriate sizes and locations of photovoltaic (PV) array and inverters.
  • Review specifications and recommend engineering or manufacturing changes to achieve solar design objectives.
  • Evaluate plans or specifications to determine technological or environmental implications.
  • Participate in the development of design and installation standards and quality assurance procedures.
  • Provide technical direction or support to installation teams during installation, start-up, testing, system commissioning, or performance monitoring.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in solar design and electrical engineering within the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in ETAP or similar electrical system modeling software.
  • Strong understanding of solar PV systems, including knowledge of PV modules, inverters, racking systems, and balance of system (BOS) components.
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC), particularly as it relates to PV systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred, but not required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
