Job Overview:

The Automotive Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles within the Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) framework. This role includes conducting pre-delivery inspections (PDI) to ensure vehicles are ready for fleet service. The technician also collaborates with the Technical Services Division and other departments by performing product investigations, sharing technical expertise, and validating service procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Vehicle Maintenance and Repair - 35%

  • Execute vehicle maintenance in accordance with Mazda standards.
  • Identify and rectify vehicle issues comprehensively.
  • Utilize Mazda service information and diagnostic tools to accurately diagnose problems and recommend repairs.
  • Complete all outstanding campaigns for employee lease vehicles.
  • Thoroughly document vehicle issues, including complaints, causes, and corrections, adhering to MNAO standards.

Pre-Delivery Inspections - 35%

  • Receive vehicles from the port and inspect for any transport-related damage.
  • Conduct Pre-Delivery Inspections, ensuring tire pressure, fluid levels, and software updates meet MNAO standards.
  • Install Dealer Installed Options (DIO) accessories as required.
  • Clean and prepare vehicles for distribution to employees.

Technical Support - 25%

  • Assist the Product Quality team with investigations and repairs as necessary.
  • Document and report any product quality issues to relevant internal teams.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and communicate findings regarding unrepaired retail buy-back vehicles.
  • Validate workshop manual repair procedures, Technical Service Bulletins, and Service Campaigns.
  • Perform time studies to confirm warranty time standards and dealer appeals.

Service Shop Support - 5%

  • Test tools, equipment, and systems to ensure proper functionality.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of tools and equipment.
  • Document internal processes to support ongoing improvements.
  • Provide support to additional departments such as Motorsports, Marketing, and PR as needed.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Preferred: Certification from a vocational school or completion of an apprenticeship.

Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an automotive technician or completion of an accredited automotive technical training program, with knowledge of vehicle mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience in automotive diagnostic troubleshooting.
  • Mazda Master/Senior Technician status is preferred.

Training/Certification:

  • ASE Master Technician certification is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license for the state of residence is required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to operate various tools and heavy equipment.
  • In-depth knowledge of complex mechanical and electronic vehicle systems.
  • Proficient in using and interpreting tools and equipment with precision.
  • Awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment for oneself and others.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, with the ability to learn other software applications used within the company.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of establishing effective working relationships with management, employees, customers, and vendors.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Accountability and adherence to work rules and schedules.
  • Compliance with all established policies and procedures.

Compensation:

Pay range: $21.88 - $30.06
