Position Title: Lead Operations Supervisor

Core Responsibilities: The Lead Operations Supervisor is tasked with overseeing and guiding their team in the effective execution of tasks related to ship construction and maintenance.

Experience Requirements:

  • Proficient in rigging techniques and signaling to guarantee safe handling of loads.
  • Preferred certifications include NCCCO or Southern Crane.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years in shipbuilding or five (5) years of relevant experience within the same organization is ideal.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Expertise in operating various machinery such as crawler cranes (both friction and hydraulic), cherry pickers, forklifts, barge cranes, and gantry cranes.
  • Comprehensive understanding of craft-specific methodologies and practices.
  • Organized leader with proven experience in resource allocation and scheduling.
  • Collaborative approach to working with other craft leaders.
  • High energy and positive demeanor.
  • Ability to conduct labor assessments and devise staffing plans is preferred.
  • Familiarity with standard marine practices and general construction specifications.
  • Solid foundational knowledge of shipbuilding and repair processes.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safe operation of equipment including crawler cranes, cherry pickers, and other designated machinery.
  • Oversee and coordinate related craft operations for the designated work area.
  • Develop, review, and uphold construction plans, timelines, budgets, and essential documentation.
  • Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and other technical documents.
  • Ensure availability of necessary materials and labor resources for task completion.
  • Maintain work schedules and be prepared to work overtime to prevent project delays.
  • Collaborate with production management to synchronize craft activities.
  • Enhance craft operations to deliver high-quality results in line with company standards.
  • Train and inspire the workforce to achieve optimal productivity levels.
  • Address daily personnel, equipment, and facility challenges; propose effective solutions and corrective measures.
  • Consult with other supervisors regarding personnel decisions such as hiring, promotions, or transfers.
  • Uphold all company policies, procedures, work practices, and safety regulations.
  • Capability to work in confined spaces and at heights exceeding 5 feet.
  • Ability to utilize a respirator when necessary.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those concerning employee safety and environmental practices.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
  • Report to work consistently and punctually.
